Faculty Excellence

The start of freshman year is almost always daunting, so we decided to solicit advice from the professionals. We posed three questions – designed to benefit Radford University’s newly arrived Class of 2026 – to faculty and staff, professors and instructors, and deans and department heads and this is what they told us.

In April, 15 members of Radford University’s Student Managed Investment Portfolio Organization (SMIPO) took a four-day trek to New York City. While there, they participated in multi-day forums at the investment banking firms BNY Mellon and Goldman Sachs.

Radford University welcomed faculty and staff back to campus during its annual university convocation on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022. It was a moment to look ahead to the upcoming academic year, welcome new faces and celebrate the achievements of the Highlander community. 

As a literary tourist, associate professor of English Courtney Watson is a frequent visitor to sites like Rowan Oak; and Key West, Florida; and Monroeville, Alabama; and Paris, where writers like William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Harper Lee, Truman Capote, Eudora Welty and Robert Wright lived, wrote, and set scenes that made them the beloved writers they are today. 

This week in Highlanders in the News: Longtime WDBJ7 producer and anchor Travis Wells joins the Hokies; push-ups prove profitable (and philanthropic) for softball player Tori Boyd; and a student, a professor and an alum have all recently made splashes in the realm of art. 

Earlier this year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program was able to use office space and staffers from Radford University to expand its reach and its expertise across the New River Valley.
