2022 Graduate Student Conference
The Virginia Association of Counselor Educators & Supervisors (VACES) held their 2022 Graduate Student Conference March 25th and 26th at South University’s Richmond campus. Proposals were submitted from master’s and doctoral level counseling students from throughout the Commonwealth. Topics of interest and relevant areas of inquiry to the counseling profession that were presented included: school, agency, clinical mental health, marriage and family, substance use and addiction, career, supervision, ethics, professional identity, and research.
Two of our second-year cohort students, Alexis Cogley and Eliza Mullins, were selected to present on their areas of inquiry and research. Alexis shared the results of a semester-long directed study entitled Trauma-Informed Guilt Reduction Therapy for Male Sexual Survivors. Eliza presented the results of her semester-long directed study, Nonmonosexual Identity Development. Both presentations were well attended and received.
Alexis and Eliza are just two, of the many students in the program, engaged in creative and innovative research and approaches to working with clients.
