Dr. Keith Davis
Keith M. Davis, Ph.D., NCC is a Professor in the Counselor Education Department. Dr. Davis teaches courses in both school and clinical mental health counseling and has 20+ years of experience teaching, working as an elementary and high school counselor, family intervention specialist, and an EAP therapist. Dr. Davis’ research interests includes international education and the internationalization of the counseling profession, men’s issues and male development over the lifespan, and the incorporation of brief family interventions employed by school counselors working with school-aged youth and their families.
Dr. Lauren Ermann
Lauren Ermann, Ph.D. (Virginia Tech) is an Associate Professor in the department of Counselor Education at Radford University. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a Certificate in Gerontology from Virginia Tech. Her research efforts have focused on older adults (specifically older women), addictions (Alcoholics Anonymous), chronic pain (care and coping strategies), and mild cognitive impairment (coping mechanisms for relatives).
Dr. Ermann teaches first year foundation courses related to counseling theory and techniques, legal and ethical issues in counseling, assessment and appraisal in counseling, and individual practicum. She also serves as the assessment coordinator for the department.
Dr. Nadine Hartig
Nadine Hartig is a Licensed Professional Counselor (VA) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (CO). She holds a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1996) and a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Northern Colorado (2004). She is a registered play therapist (RPT), Board Certified Tele-mental Health practitioner, and EMDRIA trained in EMDR. She has over twenty-five years of clinical experience in a variety of settings, including universities, community mental health centers, K-12 schools, crisis settings, private practice, the State Public Defender’s Office, domestic violence and trauma centers, integrated behavioral health, and dual diagnosis treatment. She has been part of Radford University’s faculty since 2006, where she holds rank as Professor and serves as the chairperson of the Department of Counselor Education. She also serves as the Director for the Center of Integrated Health and Wellness. She has taught across the counseling core, school counseling, couples and family counseling, and clinical mental health curricula for over fifteen years. Her areas of interest include trauma treatments, counseling children and adolescents, integrated health, wellness, supervision, leadership, sport performance, and career development.
Dr. Bethany Lanier
Bethany A. Lanier is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner, and National Certified Counselor. Her Master’s Degree is from Radford University and her doctoral studies were completed at Auburn University. She has a range of clinical experiences that include counseling inmates, child and family counseling, substance abuse counseling, and career counseling in higher education settings over the last 10 years. Dr. Lanier has presented research related to areas of counselor development and preparation, vicarious trauma and subthreshold PTSD among counselors, recidivism rates among incarcerated individuals, best practices in counseling, and ethical considerations in substance abuse counseling.
Dr. Carrie Sanders
Carrie Sanders, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counselor Education. Dr. Sanders has over 15 years in the fields of education, training, and counseling. She completed her undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Education at Appalachian State University and holds a master's and doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Virginia Tech.
Throughout her career, Dr. Sanders has held a variety of positions which include working as a teacher in public traditional and alternative settings, a school counselor, director of children and youth programs, community college advisor, special research faculty and a counselor educator. As a counselor educator, she has taught and supervised both masters-level and doctoral-level students.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Sanders enjoys collaborating with students on projects for presentations and publications. Dr. Sanders' areas of research interest include career counseling efforts in K-12, school counselor professional development, and experiential teaching and learning.

Valerie Goad has been the Administrative Assistant in the Counselor Education Department since January, 2014. Her previous work at Radford University has been with the Small Business Development Center within the College of Business and Economics.
