A Message From the Dean

The College of Arts and Sciences at Radford University is committed to preparing students who will be well-equipped to meet the challenges on the horizon. Departments in the college fulfill a dual mission:

First, departments provide students with the skills, knowledge and perspectives they will need to become specialists in disciplines in the humanities, behavioral and social sciences, physical and natural sciences, and computational sciences. Graduates thereby enter the work force and begin post-graduate studies as skilled and knowledgeable professionals.

Second, they provide students with a well-rounded liberal arts background. This foundation in the liberal arts prepares students to approach situations with confidence in their abilities to communicate, think critically, solve problems, and work with others. It also enables them to become the kinds of caring and informed citizens who will make important and lasting contributions to their families, their communities, and their society.

Faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences are excellent instructors who maintain high expectations for their students. Many are also nationally acclaimed scholars who frequently invite student collaboration on their research projects. They are dedicated mentors who work with students to make informed decisions about their studies and careers.
