PREREQUISITES FOR ADMISSION TO THE MSAT PROGRAM
ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
Applicants are required to complete and submit through ATCAS:
- Admission to the College of Graduate Studies & Research Supplemental Application (please wait until you are instructed to apply)
- Minimum GPA of 2.75, preferred 3.0, on a 4.0 scale
- Three Letters of recommendation (preferable by a supervising athletic trainer, supervising health professional, employer, or professor)
- Personal statement on why athletic training is a desired course of study and career goals (500 words)
- Minimum 25 clock hours, 50 preferred, of observation with an athletic trainer (Observation Hours Verification Form)
- Required Prerequisite Courses with credit awarded:
- Biology, Chemistry, Physics (Biomechanics/Kinesiology considered), Psychology, Anatomy & Physiology I & II
- Required Foundational Knowledge (does not have to be housed in a stand-alone course):
- Statistics, Kinesiology/Biomechanics/Pathomechanics, Exercise Physiology (Exercise Science considered), Nutrition
- Interview with Athletic Training Admission Committee (virtual)
- CPR Certification for the Healthcare Professional (above basic/lay level certification)
- Obtained Bachelor's degree by cohort start date of May 28, 2024
- Submission of all required documents by date requested on Offer of Admissions letter
- Current evidence of appropriate vaccinations (Health Record Form)
- Ability to attend the MSAT Student Orientation on-campus (in-person) May 23, 2024 - May 24, 2024

Required Prerequisite Courses
Please note that if you attended Radford University as an undergraduate student, you may refer to the specific RU equivalent course list for suggested prerequisite courses. The following list of course are required and recommended by 2020 CAATE Standards (Standard 54 and 55). Radford University MSAT program is a firm believer of keeping graduate school cost as low as possible. So taking the list of courses below at the undergraduate level will reduce a student's overall graduate education cost. Our program is 60 credits compared to some programs that are 70+ hours.
