|4x +1| > 1; for this type of problem, we use "larger than larger" or "smaller than smaller", i.e. 4x +1 >1 or 4x + 1 < -1,.....

Remark : What's wrong with writing " -1 > 4x +1 > 1" ?

|3x -1| <1/2; remember we should have only one interval in our answer, so we begin with -1/2 < 3x -1 < 1/2, can you finish it off?
