Assignment: Environmental Careers paper
September 6 Discussion of 21st Century needs
Due: Completed check-out sheets and progress toward graduation form
September 13 Paper due: Discussion of Environmental Careers
Discussion of Independent study, internships, professional writing courses, etc.
Identification of faculty/departments to invite to faculty round table discussion on September 27.
September 20 Discussion of Area of Interest statements and review of course requirements in Area of Interest portion of the environmental studies concentration.
September 27 Faculty Round Table
October 4 Presentations on geographic techniques courses by students and faculty working in technical concentration
October 11  Assignment: information interview of worker in field of interest
October 18 Library Research techniques -- meet in Library

Professional organizations and journals
October 25 OPEN
Due: Professional organizations and journals assignment.
November 1 Due: Written report on information interview
November 8 Presentation of draft area-of-interest statements and selection of area-of-interest courses, with at least 2 alternate courses.
November 15 Resume and cover letter writing
Assignment: Find a "real" job or internship announcement and prepare application materials: i.e, a resume and cover letter.
November 22 THANKSGIVING BREAK: no class
November 29 OPEN
Schedule individual consultation with advisor about resume and cover letter
December 8 NO CLASS
Schedule individual consultation with your advisor to get approval of area-of-interest statement and course of study (with two alternate courses)

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12: Area-of-interest statement and area-of interest courses (with 2 alternate courses) signed by advisor and turned into Dr. Woodward by 5:00 pm.
