Writing Assignment Guidelines

 

Each student will be required to write THREE (3) writing assignments throughout the course of the semester. Each assignment will be worth 5% of your final course grade.

 

Requirements:

            2-3 pages with a minimum of ONE (1) page, Typed

            No outside sources may be used. Violation of this requirement or plagiarism of any kind will be severely dealt with by receiving at minimum an F in the assignment and a honor code violation through the Dean of Students Office.

            Assignments will not be accepted late, under any circumstances!

1)         January 28                   Nathaniel Bacon on Bacon’s Rebellion

2)         February 25                 A July 4th Oration

3)         April 1                         Letter by a Fugitive Slave

 

 

9:00 class

1)         February 4                   Olaudah Equiano on Slavery

2)         March 4                       George Tucker on Gabriel’s Rebellion

3)         April 8                         Declaration of Sentiments of the Seneca Falls Convention

 

 

10:00 class

1)         February 11                 Virginia Resolutions on the Stamp Act

2)         March 11                     Appeal of the Cherokee Nation

3)         April 15                       South Carolina Ordinance of Secession

 

 

Guidelines:

            Read the appropriate primary source document (each will be handed out in class well before the due dates for each assignment) and, in proper essay format, answer the questions that accompany the document.
