Now
the Newsletter of the Southeastern Composers' League
May, 2002, Volume 27, Number 2
Message from the President:
Summer is a-comin' in! Hope that means good things for everyone! My oldest son
is getting married, so I'm writing wedding marches among other preparations! I
wanted everyone to know that John Boda, one of our organization's founding members
passed away April 14th in Ocala, Florida, after a series of strokes. He was born
in Boyceville, Wisconsin 79 years ago, graduated from Eastman, and taught at Florida
State University for 54 years. John and his music are revered by several generations
of students and colleagues, and we hope to offer a much-deserved tribute at our
Forum next March. A memorial scholarship fund has been established in John's name,
and donations can be sent to Kim Shively, School of Music, Florida State University,
Tallahassee, FL 32306-1180. Make check out to Boda Scholarship Fund School of
Music.
Sincerely, Donna Kelly
Eastman
