Agenda
RSV meeting
(secretary and RSV rep)
- Sportsmanship Award
- Will be looking at modifications to prevent ties and
making sure clubs are in good standing to be eligible for the award. This
will include being CIPP and insurance compliant.
- Will also review grading scale to re-evaluate the scoring
system and weights of different categories.
- Please note home club's touch judge is part of the grading
now
- Dangerous tackles. All tackles must take place below
the line of the shoulders. Anything above that line will be considered
a dangerous tackle.
MARFU/USARFU
Gave a brief overview of the structure of USARFU. (More to follow)
Tournaments
- The following tournaments were approved by the EC:
- Porter Cup hosted by United
- VWIT hosted by Virginia Women
- Sorenson Colonial Cup 7s hosted by W&M Women
- High School Tournament hosted by Hampden_Sydney
- Monk Vaughn 7s hosted by United
- Virginia State Games hosted by United
- Ed & Sandy Lee Cup hosted by Roanoke
- Pending approval:
- Newport News Tournament pending medical requirements.
- Mountain Cup (Blacksburg). Concerns that the tournament is poorly run
and not having medical personel on site as stated on event application.
- Motion (College Men Coord) that the VRU pays referee expenses for the
high school if the RSV will waive the tournament fee. Seconded. After some
discussion, the motion was adopted.
- Motion (College Men Coord) that the host club of a sanctioned tournament
must have the following medical requirements at all times:
- Medical Kit
- Cell phone or radio for immediate ambulance response
- Certified medical personel (trainer, EMT, paramedic, etc.)
The VRU directs the RSV not to allow referees to take the pitch until
all requirements are fulfilled. If the requirements are not met, the club
is liable for all incurred VRU and RSV fees. Seconded. After some discussion,
the motion was adopted.
- It is the clubs responsibility, not the referees, for keeping track
of game balls for a tournament.
Subsidy for Coaching Clinic
Treasurer recommends $50 per club for the 1998 clinic.
Grant Request from Virginia Tech Men
Motion (President) to approve a grant request from the Virginia Tech
Men for $500. Seconded. The president received a letter from Steve Guiffre,
The VT M coach, for a grant to help defer cost for attending the round
of sixteen in Houston. After some discussion, the motion was adopted.
Promotion/Relagation for Collegiate Men
I don't have any notes on this. What did we decide?
Secretary's Report
While most clubs submit directory information, and club schedules, confirm
referees for games, etc., some do not. Here is a review of the secretary's,
club's, and coordinator's responsibilities:
- The secretary will collect, input and post information submitted by
clubs and coordinators. Please copy the respective coordinator when submitting
information to the secretary, or vice versa. If the post concerns a game
change with another club, please include that club in the post.
- VRU:
- Directory updates are due at the beginning and end of each semester.
Any changes made during the season should also be submitted.
- Colleges need to submit summer contact numbers before leaving for the
summer.
- Verify the permanent postal address. Some clubs are overlooking this
requirement.
- RSV:
- Schedules are due by 1 February for the spring and 1 August for the
fall. After these dates, all changes must be submitted to the coordinator
for approval who will then forward to the RSV.
- Clubs need to verify their schedules online. It is the club's responsibility
to verify there are no errors in the schedule.
- Clubs need to confirm the referee for the match on the Tuesday before
the match and Wednesday at the very latest. If you email, send directions,
and kickoff time. Please request the referee confirm receiving the match
details. If you don't get a confirmation, please contact your respective
coordinator and copy the RSV president.
