CARTER TURNER Dr. Carter Turner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. His research interests include 19th century Protestant theology, the religious and theological dimensions of the American Civil War, and American civil religion. He teaches “Introduction to Religion,” “Survey of the World’s Religions,” “God and America: The Religion of American Nationalism,” and “Religion and Culture.” Carter Turner holds a B.A. in History from Virginia Tech, an M.A. in Theology from the Iliff School of Theology, and a Ph.D. in Religious and Theological Studies from the joint program at the Iliff School of Theology and the University of Denver. He recently finished his dissertation titled “Causes Lost and Found: Southern Election in the Life of Robert Lewis Dabney.” |
