INVESTIGATION.
HOUSEKEEPING LEAD WORKER (Housekeeping and Apparel Services Worker I (#00071W) Facilities Management. Provide general housekeeping services, special floor care maintenance, and other services in support of university functions. Complete work tasks independently or as a team leader. Assist with snow and ice removal operations. Position participates in leading small teams in task accomplishments. Work Hours: 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Sunday – Thursday, with periodic overtime for special events/functions required. QUALIFICATIONS: General knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, supplies and equipment. Ability to understand and follow safety precautions and work instructions; ability to work in a team environment; and ability to receive, relay and give instructions; and guide work of others. Demonstrated ability to operate manual and power cleaning equipment. Knowledge of institutional housekeeping methods helpful. Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds. Position previously advertised. MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (Information Technology Specialist I) (#00568A) Office of Distance Education. Coordinate instructional technology support and installation for IP and web based telecommunications classrooms and associated delivery systems for distance education and events. Facilitate distance connections between education center sites prior to classes, meetings, or extended virtual events. Assist faculty in setup and delivery of videoconferencing sessions. Coordinate scheduling and assignment of distance education telecommunication classes and events. Prepare maintenance operational reports. Assist with maintenance, installation, and service of RU telecommunications equipment and RU distance education classrooms. Maintain distance education web sites. Assist with support of virtual monitoring for live Macromedia Breeze web based courses. Work Hours: Evening/weekend hours and shift work may be required. May require travel to Roanoke and Abingdon education sites. QUALIFICATIONS: Working knowledge of computer, web based, and telecommunications applications including programming and monitoring a virtual telecommunications bridging network for audio and visual communications. Ability to coordinate and handle multiple tasks and make independent decisions. Working knowledge of Macromedia Breeze and WebCt under a hybrid delivery model for distance education and telecommunications events desirable. Working knowledge of multimedia classroom operations and applications in an instructional environment preferred. Strong technical writing skills. Mechanical aptitude and strong telecommunications and computer background preferred. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and ability to work within a support team model and university faculty. Ability to maintain accurate records and classroom maintenance logs. Ability to direct the work of others. Knowledge of general supervisory principles. Valid driver’s license required. TRANSIT DRIVER (Transportation Operator I) (#W0497W) RU Transit Services. Operate RU Transit buses on assigned routes or for special trips. Fill-in for emergency situations as necessary. Work Hours: Must be able to work one of two shifts: Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Must be available for a Sunday shift from 6:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. if necessary. Some overtime and weekend work required. QUALIFICATIONS: Current CDL certification and good driving record required. Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug screening. Must be able to comprehend/follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively. Two positions available. POSITIONS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF UP TO 1500 HOURS PER WORK YEAR.
