Manager of Advancement Systems

DUTIES/
RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Manager of Advancement Systems provides overall leadership to the administrative operations of University Advancement. The manager is responsible for the overall management of advancement modules and data related services within Banner (the university's fundraising database) and will supervise the areas of data administration, gift and pledge accounting, stewardship, and prospect research. The Manager will work closely with colleagues in university advancement, alumni relations, information technology, and the foundation, to plan and execute comprehensive fund raising programs.

The Manager of Advancement Services reports to the Vice President for University Advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all data for prospects and donors (including alumni, parents, friends, and institutions) within a centralized database which provides opportunities for targeted research, mass constituent outreach, trend and comprehensive reporting of fundraising campaign results and projections. This includes, but is not limited to:  the creation of standard and custom constituent and financial reports; the identification and extraction of information for mass direct mail, email and phone solicitations through the creation of population selections; and the production of all mailing lists.
  • Supervises all aspects of gift and pledge processing and works with the supervisor of gift recording and the finance office to reconcile gift and pledge activity between offices. Helps to ensure that the university is in compliance with all gift-reporting standards. Monitors the timeliness and efficiency of gift and pledge processing and related communication with constituents.
  • Ensures the overall accuracy and integrity of all data. Develops documentation and implements policies and procedures related to data entry and data extraction standards, and end-user training and support. Develops and maintains efficient systems for data cleansing, data entry, gift and pledge processing, prospect research, and relationship management. Supervises all staff having responsibility for constituent data and gift entry.
Functions as liaison between University Advancement and the Division of Information Technology. Represents the administrative computing interests of the University.  

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Expert knowledge of Banner Advancement. Strong knowledge of Banner letter generation, population selections, and reporting. 3-4 years Development/Fundraising experience with specific knowledge in non-profit data and gift procedures, standards, policies and practices. Prior management and supervisory experience. Ability to work with a diverse population.  Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Highly professional; detail oriented, deadline and task oriented. Experienced in multitasking.  Personal initiative, creativity, and problem solving skills.


COMPENSATION:   Salary is commensurate upon qualifications and experience.
