Senior Grants and Proposal Specialist/Special Projects Manager

DUTIES/
RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement and the Director of Corporate and Foundation Development,  this position provides program development assistance, research, proposal assistance, and stewardship assistance for funding sources.  These sources include corporations, foundations, and some government agencies.  Funding may function as either gifts or sponsored projects, positioned in the optimal and appropriate area for Radford University, be that Foundation accounts or University accounts.

 

This position also manages special projects for University Advancement.  Projects will vary in scope and time frame and will be selected and prioritized by the Advancement team.  The Special Projects Manager will work will work with designated members of advancement departments to evaluate specific operations, identify operational gaps and opportunities and develop and implement improvement plans.  Identified special projects at this time include:  volunteer management system, efficiency of annual fund raising, and the development of a comprehensive research  and data team.

 

Research corporate, foundation, and governmental funding sources for university-based funding initiatives.  Generate and submit proposals or assist faculty or staff in proposal writing, editing and budget development.

 

Analyze specific operations and make recommendations to improve efficacy and efficiency.  Plan implementation of recommendations, ensure completion of implementation and measure outcomes.

 

Manage special projects as assigned.


 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Master's degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor's degree and relevant experience that equates to an advanced degree is required.  Familiarity with university organizations, policies and operations.  Excellent analytical research and communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to write grant proposals and properly steward funding sources.  Ability to function effectively as a team member and leader.  Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines.


COMPENSATION:   Salary is commensurate upon qualifications and experience.
