University Advancement for Athletics
| DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: |
The University invites applicants for Director of University Advancement responsible for major gift fundraising for University Athletics. The Director is responsible for identifying, cultivating and securing private funding in support of current operations, endowment, and other capital purposes for the Radford University Athletic Department. Responsibilities include providing leadership for developing fund raising operational plans, developing strategies and managing a portfolio of prospects. Activities include traveling for face-to-face solicitations, developing college relationships, as well as upgrading gifts of support from existing donors. A minimum of 18 significant visits the first year and 22 or more visits beginning the second year will be scheduled monthly for the purpose of field research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; The Director of University Advancement Athletics will provide support to overall University fund raising and stewardship programs, communications, and alumni events. As a member of the University’s Advancement Division, the Director reports to the Vice President for University Advancement. |
| QUALIFICATIONS: |
Individual must have excellent communications, interpersonal and analytical skills. Successful candidate must be highly organized, self-motivated, with the ability to collaborate and contribute to team and individual goals. A comprehensive knowledge of fundraising strategy and ability to articulate philanthropic needs is necessary. Professional integrity with experience in an action-oriented environment and proven success in building strong business or professional relationships is necessary. Previous professional leadership experience with responsibilities for goal setting and analysis is desired. Personal computing proficiency is necessary to utilize a variety of reporting and management tools. Evening hours and overnight travel required. The ability to relate the case for private support to a diverse constituency is necessary. Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with relevant professional experience is required. |
| COMPENSATION: |
Salary is commensurate with experience—anticipated salary range is $65,000 to $75,000 annually with 3-5 years of fundraising experience. |
