| DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: |
Join a team to provide training and technical assistance to 34 school divisions and local community agencies throughout southwestern Virginia. Grant funded on an annual basis through the Virginia Department of Education. Primary responsibilities: (1) Train educators regarding best practices in secondary transition, positive behavioral supports, inclusive practices, dropout prevention, collaboration, instructional strategies, and collaborative teaming. (2) Increase capacity of local school divisions through long-term technical support. (3) Collaborate with other T/TACs, the Virginia Department of Education, and other interagency efforts. (4) Participate in ongoing professional development including required state training as deemed necessary by VDOE. |
| QUALIFICATIONS: |
Masters degree in special education, general education or related discipline; knowledge of effective practices and current issues in the field of education and special education; experience working with students with disabilities in educational settings, school teams, and improvement efforts; conducting in-service training and instructional coaching; and experience conducting needs assessments, action planning and team facilitation. An ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; work independently and as part of a team; facilitate groups; work within diverse school cultures; understand and assist in interpreting state and federal regulations; locate and interpret current research and data in the field of education. Early morning, late afternoon and occasional overnight travel is required. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in special education, general education, or related field; experience with systems change strategies for schools. |
| COMPENSATION: |
Twelve-month position with competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience and educational credentials. |
