Manager, Systems Administration & Services

DUTIES/
RESPONSIBILITIES:  

RU is seeking an energetic and highly skilled system administrator with experience leading and supervising technical teams.  Reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure, this position will design, manage and maintain a highly available server and storage infrastructure for the campus community.  The successful candidate will act as a mentor, manager and team lead for a group of four system administrators.  The position will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of a server environment consisting of Windows, Red Hat Linux, Solaris, HPUX, VMware and EMC platforms.  Develop and implement disaster recovery plans.  The position will act as the project lead for systems related projects and initiatives. 


QUALIFICATIONS:  

The successful candidate must have experience leading technical teams with a focus on system integration and system security; demonstrated experience designing systems based on best practices for large-scale server environments.  Strong knowledge of system administration practices, storage area networks, server virtualization and web architectures.  Proficient with UNIX, Linux and Windows system administration.  Proficient in some combination of the design, configuration and management of Windows Servers, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, enterprise mail systems (Exchange), enterprise web servers (Apache and IIS), database systems (Oracle and Microsoft SQL), VMWare server virtualization, storage area networks (EMC), and network attached storage.  Knowledge of security and disaster recovery principles.  Demonstrated ability to think logically and solve problems in a fast paced team environment.  Ability to manage projects and work independently and collaboratively, and to provide team leadership. Excellent written and oral communication skills.   Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or  five years of progressively responsible experience in IT or equivalent combination of education and experience.         


COMPENSATION:  

Anticipated hiring salary for this administrative and professional faculty position is $60,000 - $75,000.
