The Saturday afternoon puppet show will feature the traditional story of The Seven Chinese Brothers. This fictious tale takes place during the reign of the Emperor Ch'in Shih Huang (259 - 210 B.C.). Ch'in Shih Huang is credited with having brought about the unification of China. He also planned the construction of the Great Wall, and its construction was begun during his reign, as a defense against invaders from the north.
The Great Wall is the longest structure ever built. It stretches for 4,000 miles (6,4000 kilometers) across northern China. Construction of the Great Wall required hard and often dangerous labor by thousands of people. It is said that the cost in terms of human lives was a life for each foot of the wall.
The brothers of the story are involved in the construction of the Wall. They experience first-hand the cruelty of the Emperor Ch'in Shih Huang, but through their unusual talents and ingenuity, they manage to prevail.
The Seven Chinese Brothers will be played out using hand-made puppets in the traditional Chinese style. The story will be enhanced by special sound and lighting effects.
