A trip to Florence would not be complete without a visit to the Academy: here is its famous sculpture.

The basilica of Santa Croce is considered Florence's "Pantheon"--the burial  place of the city's outstanding men.

    Dante's cenotaph; it is empty because
    Dante never returned to Florence from
    exile.  He is buried in Ravenna.
