Contributed $500 to Tsunami Relief Effort.
(From E-Builder, Mar 2005) The Foundation of the Rossmoor Kiwanis Club voted to donate $ 500 to the Tsunami Relief Fund, which Kiwanis International is administering. These funds are sent to help with food, water, medicine, clothing, etc., for the victims of the South Asia Tsunami. The Magruder High School Key Club and the Redland Middle School Builders' Club, both sponsored by the Rossmoor Kiwanis Club, also participated in the tsunami relief efforts, collecting money, non-perishable food, clothing, toys and other supplies.
The 2005 Montgomery County HOBY CLEW is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, at Clubhouse One in the Ballroom. This will be the seventh HOBY CLEW sponsored by the Rossmoor Kiwanis Club. This year, Paul Williams, Past President of the Rossmoor Kiwanis Club and the President of the Rossmoor Foundation, will again lead the event. Paul took over as CLEW chair last year from founding chair Bob Hollinger, who handled the HOBY CLEW Seminar for six years. HOBY CLEW stands for Hugh O'Brian Youth Community Leadership Workshop, and offers direction and encouragement to sophomores in high school in the subjects of leadership, government, organizational skills, education, industry, and personal dependability. The one-day CLEW for Montgomery County sophomores is similar to the three day seminar sponsored by HOBY CLEW MARYLAND at Mount Saint Mary's College in May every year. The Rossmoor Kiwanis Foundation is a proud sponsor of sophomores from Sherwood High School and Magruder High School at the state seminar in May.
