Professor Parish has been at Radford since the Fall of l970. In the early part of his career at the university he was active as a tuba player both in chamber contexts and as a concerto soloist with the University Band. From the l980's he has been more active as a musicologist and theorist. His particular area of research in the last few years has been American Music of the first half of the twentieth century, especially that of Aaron Copland. In l991, he presented a paper at the International Mozart Conference in Salzburg, Austria. In addition, he presents a public lecture to the university community every fall. Dr. Parish plans to present as his lecture recital in l997 "Brahms and the Beautiful in Music".
