The Geology Field School for Earth Science Teachers is a course taught at Radford University for high school earth science teachers and middle school physical science teachers. It gives teachers practical experience in field geology while using the geology of Virginia as a natural teaching laboratory. Teachers learn about rocks and minerals, the resources and environmental geology of Virginia, and plate tectonics from studying the Appalachian Mountains. The course has been very highly rated by past participants and is instrumental in helping teachers prepare for the Virginia earth science Standards of Learning. The Field School is funded by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
THE FIELD SCHOOL IS NOW ACCEPTING NAMES FOR CONSIDERATION FOR SUMMER 2002.

Please contact Dr. Jon Tso of the Radford University Geology Department.
