How to use this page:
The Geologic Column page is for those who want to "time travel". The formations of the Mount Rogers are stacked to form a "geologic column" - a hypothetical cliff that one would see if all the rocks were exposed in one place. The oldest rocks are on the bottom, and time moves forward as you move up the column. The formations are hot linked to pages that give detailed descriptions and history. Click on the Cranberry Gneiss to start, then return to the column to link to more formations. Alternatively, click on the stop numbers to jump to the field trip stops. Return to this page by clicking on .
This page is a site navigation center for the Mount Rogers Field Trip. Links to all other pages are available at the bottom of the page.
