Dr. Eloise Philpot is assistant professor of art at Radford University. Degrees include: B. F. A. in painting, Memphis College of Art, Memphis, Tennesee. M. A. in Media Studies, New School for Social Research, New York City. Ph. D. Philosophy of Education in Instructional Technologywith a minor in Fine Arts, Mississippi State University. Her Dissertation title is "Media Literacy Curriculum Design: Preparing Students for Multimedia Technology".

As a multi-media artist, Dr. Philpot has taught film and video for the Artist in Education programs in Mississippi, Alabama, and South Carolina. Her animated film,"Subway People", was shown on HBO, USA Network, and has won numerous awards. Paintings, animated slide projections, and video art were shown at the Mississippi Museum of Art. She is presently teaching Video Art, Animation, Basic Computer Skills for the Artist, and Art theory and Practice at Radford University.

Dr. Philpots research involves the influence of technology on artistic paradigms. She presented papers on Maya Deren and the Surrealist, Norman McLaren's experimental animation work as well as other animation artists. Interest in Symbol System Theory led in recent years to exploring the meaning and practice of the Labyrinth. The labyrinth theme is included in drawings, paintings and animated works plus written works. Dr. Philpot has presented papers on the Labyrinth as Time Art at the Labyrinth Gathering in British Columbia and The ATINER Conference in Athens Greece. Her paper was publised in the Online Athens Journal of the Humanities and the Arts Volume 3 number 2. She will be presenting a paper "One the Labyrinth of forty Days and Nights at the Labyrinth Gathering in Houston, Texas Novemeber 10-12 2016.
