Dr. Donald Samson, Professor of English, will direct the program, which will involve course work at Radford during the Spring 2009 semester and three weeks in London in May and June 2009. Students will take two courses, one in Shakespeare (or British Drama if they have already taken English 472), and the other a survey of English literature related to London. As part of the program, the group will visit many literary sites in London and southeast England. Students will earn six credit hours for those courses, which are designed for non-English majors as well as English majors. In London, the group will visit Westminster Abbey, Shakespeare's Globe Theater, Keats' House, the Dickens' Museum, Dr. Johnson's House, St. Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum, the Tower of London, the Royal National Theater, St. Paul's Cathedral, the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery, and many other sites associated with English writers. Outside London, the group will visit Canterbury, Stratford-on-Avon, Salisbury and Stonehenge, Windsor, St. Alban's, and possibly Brighton.
