Bookstore Madness!
Jenn Peterson | One Novel Lady

Graphic By: Jenn Peterson Is it just me or does the RU Bookstore raise prices considerably? It seems that every time I walk in there the prices have risen even more. Just this morning I was in there and looked at a notebook for $5, and I was back there two hours later and saw the same notebook had risen to $7. Will it be $9 by the time I'm done writing this? How much will it cost by tomorrow? Is inflation so bad that they have to raise the prices several times a day?

What about when you go buy your textbooks? You can't hardly take two steps alone in there with out someone asking if they could have the joy and pleasure of helping you find the books that you will have to pay a small fortune for. It's like they want to get your money in as soon as possible and you out as fast as they can and they aid you during the whole ordeal. They push you through, and, before you know it, you've spent $250 and only two books to show for it. Then, at the end of the semester, when you go and try to sell them back, you expect to come out of there with 50% (which would be $125). Instead you come out with $20, because they won't buy back one book (because it will not longer be used) and you didn't get exactly the full 50% for the other.

Why do they need to know your name and ID number when you sell the books back? They didn't care who the hell you were when you bought them. So you throw away the useless book and then on the first day of class your professor walks in and says, "I hope you saved your books from 101 cause we'll need them again for 102." So you go back and buy the same book you just threw away. It's madness I tell you.

Luckily there will be a sale next week. They are calling it the five finger discount. Every thing will be free between 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. The only catch is that you have to be able to actually get into the store and be able to run faster than the cops when they catch you in there. I'll finally be able to get that RU sweatshirt I've had my eye on for so long and maybe pick something up for my little brother. Happy shopping folks!
