Offices/Services Open

All offices will be open during regular hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) except for:

  • Student Accounts and Financial Aid will be in Peters Hall Gym from noon - 4 p.m.
  • ID/RU Express, Parking Services and Telephone Services offices will be available only in Peters Hall Gym from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • The Student Health Center will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to provide information and to receive allergy serum; no health care providers on duty until Monday, 9/1. 
  • Area banks will have representatives adjacent to Peters Hall 11 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Friday, 8/29

  • Financial Aid, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Martin Hall, 2nd floor (and in Peters Hall Gym, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. for new students)
  • Student Accounts, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Walker Hall (and in Peters Hall Gym, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
  • Residential Life, 8 a.m - 4 p.m., Tyler , lower level
  • Student Health Center, Moffett Hall ground floor, east side, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., to provide information and to receive allergy serum (no health care providers on duty until Monday, 9/1)
  • McConnell Library, noon - 4 p.m.

Sunday, 8/31
McConnell Library, 2-5 p.m.  (Members of the Reference staff will be available for library tours, and work-study students will be able to complete employment forms and receive their job assignments, avoiding the long lines that normally form on the first day of classes for their 60+ work-study positions.)

Note: RU Offices in Roanoke ( Virginia Western Community College and Roanoke Higher Education Center ) will operate at usual office hours -- 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday. RU Office in Abingdon (SWVHEC) contact the Director Gerald Blankenship at 276-619-4314.


Computer Lab Hours

Normal lab hours begin Saturday, August 30

  • Sunday:  2 p.m. – midnight
  • Mon–Thurs:  7 a.m.  – midnight
  • Friday:  7 a.m.  – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday:  noon – 6 p.m.

The Walker Hall computer labs will be reserved for registration purposes on Friday, Aug. 29. Students who need to check their email or review their course schedule can use computers in Hurlburt Hall or McConnell Library.

Help Desk Hours

Technicians will be available during move-in to help students connect to the RU Network. If you need assistance, please sign up at the RD office in your residential hall.

Technicians will be working in residential halls during the following hours:

  • Friday, August 29 - 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 30 - 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Normal office hours begin Monday, Sept. 1. Please call 831-7500.

  • 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday
  • 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday

Bookstore

Bookstore Hours, Dalton Hall

  • Friday, 8/29, 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Saturday, 8/30, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, 8/31, 9 a.m. – 7 a.m.
  • Monday & Tuesday, 9/1-2, 7:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Wednesday & Thursday, 9/3-4, 7:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Regular Hours Starting Friday, Sept. 5

  • Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Extended Campus Students in Roanoke:

All bookstore sales for RU classes at VWCC and RHEC will be conducted at Roanoke Higher Education Center.  (There will be no textbook sales at the community college).  Students may purchase texts Saturday, August 30, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Monday, 9/1 through Thursday, 9/4, from 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. in RHEC 510.

Students with Roanoke Classes may order textbooks on-line, have them pre-packaged and pick up in Roanoke on the above dates. 

Note:  Students with excess financial aid have the option of opening a charge account with the University Bookstore.  Students must apply for this option by filling out the Bookstore Voucher that is enclosed with their semester billing statement and return it by the semester payment deadline.

Sunday August 31 -- All new DRO students who have had telephone interviews with DRO staff over the summer are strongly encouraged to attend an information session to pick up fall accommodations. Group sessions by appointment only. 1st Floor, Tyler Hall, Room 134.
