Multicultural and International Students
New International Students: International students report to Pocahontas Hall, Room 08, on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 9 a.m. for orientation. (International Students will have IDs made during their orientation.)
International students who require early housing on campus will need to make special arrangements with Kim Vest, 540-831-5765.

Graduate Students

Extended Education Sites
RU/Virginia Western Community College Roanoke (VWCC) - Contact the Site Director, Eulah Price, on the VWCC campus (2nd floor of Thomas Center for Advanced Studies) or call 540-857-6123 or 540-767-6190 (RHEC) for further details.
- Classes begin on Monday, 9/1
- Operating Hours: RU’s office on VWCC campus is open 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. M-TH and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Friday to assist students with registration and other services.
- NEW STUDENT AND NEW TRANSFER STUDENT ORIENTATION IN ALL ROANOKE DEGREE PROGRAMS, Saturday, 8/30, 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC), Room 212.
- Photos for RU IDs will be taken immediately following Orientation general session on 8/30, and will continue until 2:00 p.m. Actual RU Student ID cards will be distributed in classes or via mail at a later date.
- Financial Aid Entrance Interviews: Students should complete entrance interviews on-line prior to the first day of classes. On-line access is available by going to http://finaid.asp.radford.edu/
- Textbooks for all Radford University Classes taught in Roanoke will be sold at the Roanoke Higher Education Center on Saturday, 8/30, 10 a.m. 2 p.m.; Monday, 9/1, 4 - 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, 9/2 (4 6:30 p.m.); Wednesday, 9/3 (4 6:30 p.m.) and Thursday, 9/4 (4 6:30 p.m.). Students with Roanoke classes may order textbooks on-line, have them pre-packaged and pick up in Roanoke on the above dates. For additional information on textbooks and on-line purchasing, please go to RU bookstore website.

- NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: Held during first class meeting
- Photo IDs for SVHEC/RU can be taken at the Site Director’s office during the days of Extended Hours listed above or by appointment. Please take proof of your RU status, i.e. your letter from the Graduate College or your temporary I.D. card.

- Virginia Highlands Community College bookstore is located on the first floor of the SVHEC. They generally have extended hours (closing at 7:00 p.m.) during the first few weeks of school. Please call 276-619-4323 to verify hours of operation. Please keep all receipts and do not mark in your books until after you meet with your professor. Some of the professors may elect to have you purchase books through them and/or other sources. This is not an RU owned bookstore, so many books are not considered on the “buy back” list after the semester.

Class Schedule Distribution
Students can access their class schedule online anytime through the RU Portal at https://www.portal.radford.edu/ by clicking on the Student Information System link. Students without access to their computers on Friday or Saturday may use the computers in Hurlburt Student Center (The Bonnie) or in McConnell Library. Computer labs in Walker Hall will be available on Sunday from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m. and lab managers can provide assistance to students in accessing their class schedule.
