Accreditation & Outcomes
ACCREDITATION
The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program was approved in 2008 by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and initially accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy (ACOTE) in 2011. In December of 2017, the RU MOT program was fully reaccredited by ACOTE.
In April of 2019, the MOT program at our Roanoke location (Radford University Carilion - RUC) was fully accredited by ACOTE as well.
ACOTE can be contacted by postal mail at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, Maryland 20852-4929, or by telephone at 301-652-AOTA. The Council's web address is www.acoteonline.org.
GRADUATION OUTCOMES
The total number of graduates from the Radford University Master of Occupational Therapy program during the 3-year period of 2019-2021 was 118/123, with an overall retention rate of 96%. Many students have job offers by the time they graduate and the majority of students secure full-time employment within 2-4 months following graduation (delays in employment are largely due to studying for and taking the NBCOT exam first).

Graduates of the RU MOT program site for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam following graduation and after confirmation of meeting all exam eligibility criteria, including successful completion of all level II fieldwork components. Students can find out more about examination elibility criteria and associated costs by visiting https://www.nbcot.org/. Prospective students who have any questionable criminal or professional records are encouraged to utilize NBCOT's early determination and associated character review in order to determine whether elibility to take the exam at the end of the program is potentially in jeopardy. We highly recommend to initiate this process before enrollment.
The program's pass rates on the NBCOT exam are published on NBCOT's website and can be accessed by following this link:
