Prerequisites: Successful completion of all prior course work, or permission of department chair.

This course is the first in a sequence of courses designed to define the expectations of professional development in entry-level DPT education with emphasis on the core competencies of professionalism, and communication. In this introductory course students will identify the core values and ethical principles which inform physical therapy practice. Students will explore strategies for self-reflection and communication critical to the doctoring profession and develop understanding of skills for professional development and lifelong learning.

Student Learning Outcomes

The learner will explain ethical principles, communication skills, and self-reflection needed for professional development in preparation for entering a doctoring profession.

Assessment measures may include, but are not limited to, written examinations, group presentations and other assignments.
