MUSC494: Internship in Music Business

Prerequisite: Completion of all undergraduate music business courses with a grade of “C” or better and permission of instructor.

Credit Hours: (3-6)

Six weeks full time work (3 semester hours) up to eight weeks full-time work (6 semester hours) in the management aspects of a business related to music chosen by the student and approved by the adviser and department chairperson.


Detailed Description of Content of Course

The type of work experience the student will have will depend upon the music business area the student chooses for the internship. Some internship sites may be businesses such as music marketing, radio and television, music promotion, or music marketing.


Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Faculty member will monitor the student's internship progress by telephone conferences and written correspondence with the business where the student is doing the internship.


Goals and Objectives

Student's are to gain practical working experience in a business setting which will utilize their knowledge and skills while under the supervision of someone knowledgeable in that field.


Assessment Measures

A Pass/Fail grade will be assigned by the adviser after consulting with the work supervisor and receiving a written report of the quality of the work done by the student.
