V. Course Description: 

A workshop-based advanced creative writing course that focuses on preparing a dramatic work for production or submission.

VI. Detailed Description of Content of the Course:

This course is an advanced workshop course in which students further develop skills in the writing and analysis of stage plays. Designed for students with prior experience in playwriting and dramaturgy.

VII. Goals and Objectives of the Course:

Students will further develop their skills in writing for the stage and creating a blueprint for collaboration with other artists in the realization of that script in performance. At the end of the course, students should be able to produce a full-length original dramatic work that is submission-ready.

Students will be assessed using a variety of formative and summative measures. Students may be assessed via:

  2. Informal, in-class activities
  3. Informal targeted writing activities completed outside class
  4. Reflective journals
  5. Writing multiple drafts of plays
