Health 450: Current Health Problems – Topical

Prerequisite: None

Credit Hours: (1-3)

Students will study the implications of selected current health problems as applied to health education/health promotion. Topics may include but are not limited to Health Counseling, Consumer Health, Worksite Health, Addiction and Public Health. Depending upon the topic, this course may be used to meet requirements for the minor in Women’s Studies.

 

Detailed Description of Content of Course

Study of implications selected current health problems hold for educator, their effects on society and possible means for the amelioration. May be repeated.

 

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

A teaching approach using written and oral communication will be emphasized.

 

Goals and Objectives of the Course

To explore in depth health topics briefly examined in other courses. Topics are stress, consumerism and personal safety.

 

Assessment Measures

Graded assignments will be tests, in-class writings, individual oral presentations on reading assignments.
