Radford University selects John M. Brooks Jr. to lead Human Resources

Radford University has named John M. Brooks Jr. as assistant vice president of Human Resources.

In the position, Brooks will hold leadership and senior management responsibilities within the university's Department of Human Resources.

In addition, he will serve as the administrator for all human resources functions across Radford University to include policies and programs covering employment (teaching and research faculty, administrative and professional faculty, and classified staff), compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, EO/Affirmative Action, training and human resources information systems.

"We are excited to welcome Mr. Brooks to Radford University. He brings to our university an extensive knowledge of human resources and will provide efficient and dependable service to our faculty and staff," said Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Danny Kemp, who chaired the search committee. "I'd like to thank the search committee for its thoughtful and expedient work that led to the selection of Mr. Brooks from a talented pool of applicants," Kemp continued.

Currently, Brooks serves as chief human resources officer at Armstrong State University. There, he is responsible for all university human resources functions for 1,400 faculty and staff. Those functions include compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, training, policy, compliance, metrics and employee relations.

Brooks' previous positions include associate vice president of Human Resources at Tennessee Tech University, chief human resources officer at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, executive director of human resources at Clayton State University, and human resources manager at the University of Missouri System Division of Information Technology.

Brooks earned a master's degree in public administration from Missouri State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice administration/psychology from Drury University.

Brooks will assume his new role at Radford University on April 25th.
