Alumni employees celebrate the start of the academic year

Many employees of Radford University have a special connection to their employer. Radford University alumni, who are also employees of the University, celebrated the start of the new academic year during an Office of Alumni Relations hosted social at BTs in Radford on August 24, 2017.

Jonathan Mayer ’02, assistant manager of printing services at Radford, said he looks forward to this event every year. “This is the third year that I have made it to this event. It’s neat to meet a lot of employees whom I didn’t know were also alumni of Radford,” said Mayer. He was hired at Radford University in 2009, “When I graduated, I was hoping to work at the University. I really enjoy the university setting – it’s really special,” said Mayer.

The week before students arrived on campus was an exciting time for Radford University employees – and those who remember their first day at a Radford University student. “I ran cross country as a student here. It’s easy to care about Radford students, because you were one yourself,” said Steve Shelton ’91, an instructor in the Health and Human Performance program.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Alumni Relations hosted this special social for Radford University alumni employees.
