Inclement Weather Notifications at Radford University

There is a high probability that inclement weather will impact the New River Valley over the next several days. Radford University would like to remind members of the RU community how to find information about the university’s operating status.

The following media will be used to notify students, faculty and staff in the event of a weather-related delay or closing.

Web Site
The Radford University web site (www.radford.edu) is the most up-to-date and comprehensive source of information about the university’s operating status. A special pop-up box will detail urgent updates and status changes.

Social Media
Official Radford University social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, will broadcast changes in the university’s operating status as information becomes available. Links to these sites are available via the Radford University web site.

Email
The university will send mass notifications via email to all faculty, staff and students as soon as possible to detail any status changes and updates.

Switchboard
For those who are unable to access the Internet, the Radford University switchboard at (540) 831-5000 will have the latest operating status advisories.

Local Media
RU notifies over 20 regional media outlets when a weather-related closing or delay occurs. Among the local media outlets that are notified of any changes in the university’s operating status are television stations WDBJ-7 and WSLS-10 and radio stations K92, Q99 and WPSK.

WVRU - 89.9 FM
In and around Radford, weather-related university updates will also be announced on WVRU, 89.9 FM, RU’s public information radio station.
