The Radford University Student Activities Department welcomes Amy Damron as its new Coordinator for Greek Life Programs.

Damron comes to RU most recently from Quincy University in Illinois, where she earned her master's degree and served as the Coordinator for Greek Life and Leadership Programs.

She started her position at Radford in May.

"Amy brings a new perspective and a different skill set, along with professional experience, to the Greek Life office," said Robert Marias, assistant director of Student Activities-Greek Life. "Her energy, enthusiasm and dedication to the students are just some of the things that have already proven her to be a valuable member of the Student Activities team."

Damron learned of Radford University last December at the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors Annual Meeting.

"I did a lot of networking and made a lot of connections," she said. "When I started looking for a job, I turned to those colleagues, many of whom spoke highly of Radford and its innovative approach to teaching and its strong student-faculty relationships."

When she visited Radford's campus to interview for the Greek Life position, she witnessed that approach first-hand.

"The students knew who the professors were, and they were talking to them outside of class," Damron said. "I was just passing by, and it was neat to see that interaction."

As Coordinator for Greek Life Programs, Damron will assist with all Greek Life-related events, including recruitment, sexual assault education and awareness, alcohol education, hazing prevention week and Greek Week.

"I have an open-door policy," she said. "I'm very supportive of what students want, because if it wasn't for our students, we wouldn't be here."

An alumna member of Alpha Xi Delta, Damron was personally influenced by the Greek Life community and is eager to share that experience with students.

"Greek Life has taught me how to be a leader," she said. "I wouldn't be here without my sisters and the Greek Life community. We all support each other. It's great to see students come together to reach common goals.

Damron earned a B.A. in mass media from Henderson State University in 2010 and a M.A. in communication from Quincy University in 2016.
