Improved Starbucks opens at Radford University

The Starbucks at Radford University has moved inside the new College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences (CHBS) building.

The 3,000-square-foot location now seats 50 people – an increase of 38. The seating isn’t the only part that changed in the new location – it has an improved serving area as well.

“Our new location has the same size production line as the Starbucks at the University of Alabama with three expresso machines as the heart of the engine, as Starbucks refers to it,” said James Perkins, director of University Services. “We also have expanded the offerings to include some of the hot food line, as is offered in many Starbucks locations across the country.”

The Starbucks has an improved sound-system, which Perkins hopes adds to the customer experience.

The location also adapts to modern needs. On the leg of each table and on the base of chairs located throughout the restaurant, there are USB ports to keep portable devices charged.

Starbucks will be operating on a limited schedule during move-in week. Normal operating hours begin Aug. 29: 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The location is accessible from secondary entrances inside the new CHBS building, as well as the primary entrance, which is located in the courtyard of the new CHBS building. The entrance on the north side of the CHBS building is the only entrance accessible after the main building closes.

This Starbucks location accepts the Radford FLEX dollars, Radford Express, cash, credit cards and Starbucks gift cards, including the gold card earned by frequent visitors of the chain.
