COBE lecture series delves into 'Man, Economy and South Park'

Anthony Carilli, a professor of economics and director of the Center for Study of Political Economy at Hampden-Sydney College, will speak at Radford University Oct. 29 as part of the Economics is Everywhere lecture series.

The professor will speak about "Man, Economy, and South Park."

Carilli's lecture begins at 7 p.m. in room 340 of the College of Business and Economics (COBE) building. Refreshments will be provided at 6:30 p.m. The event is by hosted by the Department of Economics.

Carilli, who earned an M.A. and Ph.D. from Northeastern University, serves on the editorial board of the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics. He is on the Board of Scholars for the Virginia Institute of Public Policy and serves as treasurer for both the Society for Development of Austrian Economics and the Virginia Economic Association.

Carilli's research areas include rural firefighting, NASCAR, social capital, Austrian business cycle theory and monetary regimes.

The Economics is Everywhere program launched at Radford University during the Spring 2015 semester. As part of the initiative, students attend lectures from economics experts and participate in a semester-long book club.
