Radford University will join in the nationwide recognition of Women's History Month in March.

The month-long celebration kicks off March 2 with a Circle of Life Intergenerational Dialogue, featuring Sarah Hastings, director of RU's psychology program.

Every Monday in March, an inner circle of women from one generation will speak to an outer circle of participants from other generations about their life experiences and what it is like to be a woman in a particular age group.

Also on March 2, RU welcomes award-winning novelist Dorothy Allison to campus. Allison is the author of "Bastard Out of Carolina," among other works.

On March 5, President Penelope W. Kyle will speak at a presentation titled, "Our Wretched Sisters: Gender and Executed Women" along with Mary Atwell, professor emeritus of criminal justice.

Kyle will conclude the month's events on April 1 with a closing reception titled "Reflections on Women and Women's History Month."

Other events include the annual performances of "Vagina Monologues," directed by Lucinda McDermott; the Paradigm Shift dance performance; and Her-Story Celebration featuring poems, sketches and photo journals by RU students, faculty, staff and administrators.
