    As a child, Drake Davis modeled himself on his father, a Navy nurse. Throughout his life, he followed in his father's footsteps, including working toward a nursing degree. As he prepares to graduate from Radford University's School of Nursing, Davis has been accepted into the Navy’s nurse candidate program—one of only 69 people accepted nationwide, ranking No. 2 in the U.S. and No. 1 in Virginia.

    In a crowded mock courtroom on Friday, Feb. 3, the large contingent gathered there signaled by their presence that they were unanimously in favor of naming the academic space in which they sat – an early training ground for up-and-coming legal scholars – in honor of Radford University alumnus Chris Huther ’88, an attorney whom President Bret Danilowicz, Ph.D., called that day a champion for Radford.

    Students in Radford University Carilion’s Department of Physician Assistant Studies are given the opportunity to volunteer for the bi-annual Point in Time Survey, gathering data on the homeless population in Roanoke. The activity helps the students develop their kindness, compassion and empathy—traits they will carry into their professional lives as healthcare providers.
