Virginia Learning Center (VLC) Information

The Commonwealth of Virginia's  Learning Management System, the Virginia Learning Center or VLC. Houses most of the Training for Virginia State employees as well as training from VDEM, DHRM, DOA, etc. It contains training topics from safety to professional development to credit card procedures, and mandatory training just to name a few.

Accessing Your Account

All full-time Radford University employees automatically have access to the VLC. Students, Wage, and Part-Time employees must request a VLC account by sending us an email.

*If you are having difficulties logging on, accessing the training OR you would like to request an account please send us an email.*

Login ID: If you do not know your VLC Login ID follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the VLC.
  2. Select the blue 'Log In' button.
  3. Select the 'Forgot your Login ID' option directly below the 'Log In' button. 
  4. Enter your legal last name and your Radford University email address
  5. Your Login ID will be sent to you. If you do not receive your Login ID, send us an email

Password: If you do not know your VLC Password follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the VLC.
  2. Select the blue 'Log In' button.
  3. Select the 'Forgot your Password' option directly below the 'Log In' button. 
  4. Enter your Login ID.
  5. A temporary password will be sent to your Radford University email, follow the instructions it provides to reset your password. If you do not receive your password, send us an email

Classroom Training Sessions

All classroom sessions with open registrations will have available dates and times listed with the registration information in the VLC.  It is a requirement to register for most of our classroom trainings. This helps us to provide better materials as well as manage enrollment and give proper credit to attendees on their transcripts.

Online Training Sessions

As mentioned previously there are many different trainings in the VLC including online courses.  These can last anywhere from ten minutes to three hours. You will be given credit on your VLC transcript for any courses that you have completed. Please be sure to look at your TRANSCRIPT located on the top of your home page after you sign in.

All full-time Radford University employees automatically have access to the VLC, within five days from their start date. Students, Wage, and Part-Time employees must request a VLC account by submitting a request by sending us an email.

If you are having difficulties logging on, accessing the training OR you would like to request an account please submit a request by sending us an email.

You can download the printable VLC instructions above or you may follow the instructions below:

  1. To begin, select the VLC login link. On the first page you see, select login. *Note: Please do not select "Need an account?" Or "Contact Us" on this page. These options do not apply to our VLC.
  2. Type your Login credentials on this screen (Login ID and Password).
    1. If you do not know your Login ID, select Forgot your login ID and follow the prompts. If you do not know your password, select Forgot your password and follow the prompts.
  3. Once your Login ID and password are accepted, you will either land on the Home page of the VLC or you may have landed directly in the training you wish to attend/complete. For some courses, a direct link is provided.
    1. If you have landed in the training course;
      1. For a classroom course, select ENROLL on the date/time/location you wish to attend.
      2. For online courses, select Open item or Access item.
    2. If you have landed on the home page; Click on the title of your course
      1. For a classroom course, select ENROLL on the date/time/location you wish to attend.
      2. For online courses, select Open item or Access item.

How to Access a Course in VLC

  1. After Logging in, you will see your homepage. Near the top, is the option to search the Training Catalog.

  2. You may search for a course three ways:

    1. You may also enter the title of the course you are looking for or

    2. If you have it, the Unique Identifier or link is the most direct way to access a course.

  3. If you are searching for the course, more than one may appear in the screen.  Select the course name.

  4. Select Access or Open item. (If this is a classroom course you will select ENROLL on the date/time/location you wish to attend).

  5.  A pop up window should appear with the training modules. Click on the course title link.

  6. The slides should now begin playing.

  7. Complete the course.

  8. After Completion and exiting, an option to View certificate will appear.

  9. You may save the certificate or print it for your records.

How to Access your Transcript

Your transcript is a permanent record of all learning content in which you have been enrolled or participated in. If you have attempted a learning item more than once, each attempt displays on your transcript.

Navigating to the Transcript

  1. After Logging into the VLC, your first screen will be your homepage. Your menu(s) will be located at the top of the page.
  2. Select Learning from the first menu (black) at the top of your page.
  3. Select Transcript from the second menu (blue) at the top of your page.
