Honors at Radford University is an academic program and vibrant community defined by intellectual curiosity and active engagement in the educational process. In turn, these qualities are expected to result in the pursuit of excellence in one's scholarly and creative activities.

Honors students are selected in a competitive application process. Students admitted to honors are eligible for a number of benefits, including enrollment in honors classes, honors housing, honors programming and honors advising. Students who complete the 27-credit hour honors curriculum graduate as Highlander Scholars, the highest academic distinction for Radford undergraduates. The Highlander Scholar distinction appears on the student's diploma and is recognized with special regalia at graduation.

The Honors Academy at Radford University is a division of the Office of High Impact Practices and a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council, the Southern Regional Honors Council and the Virginias Collegiate Honors Council.
