Radford University graphic design professors John O’Connor and Ken Smith wanted to find a way to bring together more students, alumni and community for the annual one night only student graphic design show. So, this semester they are shaking things up.

    From the stalwart Joan of Arc to the keen Portia, dramatic heroines run the gamut from the lowly to the sublime. And Junie B. Jones, spunky first-grader known for her signature purple glasses, fits right into this grand company. Audiences of Radford University’s Theatre for Young Audiences’ production of “Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells,” will see the beloved Junie B. and all her friends spring vividly to life when the play opens at Pridemore Playhouse in early December.

  4. World Dance: A Cultural Collaboration  »

    Radford University Department of Dance is presenting “World Dance: A Cultural Collaboration,” an infusion of culturally intriguing folk dances Nov. 29, 2016, in Albig Studio Theatre, B112, Peters Hall on the Radford University campus. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is free to the general public. The cultural dances that are being performed are from the Dominican Republic, Germany, the Pacific Islands, China and Ireland.

    It was spring 2015 at Radford University, but visions of sugarplum fairies danced in the minds of the School of Dance and Theatre faculty. They had come together discuss the 2014 “The Nutcracker.” And this is the story of the newly designed scenery.

  6. Pianist Martin Jones returns to Radford »

    Highly acclaimed British pianist Martin Jones will present a concert of new music by Claude Debussy, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and New England composers Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Covington Center for the Performing Arts at Radford University. Composers will speak about their works on the program in a pre-concert talk at 6:30 p.m.

    The familiar strains of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” will fill Radford University’s Pridemore Playhouse as Porterfield Ensemble presents the premiere of “Poe: Dark Genius, Troubled Life” October 27 and 28.

  8. “Flying Tigers: An Exhibition by Haoqin Gong” comes to Downtown Museum »

    Haoqin Gong’s aviation art captures the strong connection between the Chinese people and a special group of American pilots during WWII. His sepia, monochromatic paintings and drawings tell the story of the 1st American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force, known as the Flying Tigers, and their relationship to China during 1941-42.

    Fall Dance Fest opens Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016. Radford University’s dance students use this annual event to move us into fall. This year features works by Department of Dance faculty danah bella, Deborah McLaughlin, Inessa Plekhanova, Amy VanKirk and new faculty member

    Ji-Eun Lee. They have created a full program of innovative choreography highlighting a wide variety of dance genres including Modern Dance, Classical Ballet and Jazz. 

  10. An exhibition of 16 Hands »

    Eight artists, 16 hands and a wealth of talent and experience came together into one collective group of ceramists and a woodworker. Known as 16 Hands, their latest artworks will be on exhibition at Radford University Art Museum from Oct. 13-Dec. 14.

    Library staff recently dedicated a wall space, located in the rear of the third floor of the library, to honor Assistant Professor Andrew Ross, who has been instrumental in turning the quaint study area into a prominent place for students to display their artwork.
