Applied Mathematics Concentration
The Applied Mathematics Concentration is intended for students aiming for careers in business and industry. It would also prepare a student for graduate school in math.
Students in the Applied Mathematics Concentration must take

- MATH 260 -- Introductory Linear Algebra
- MATH 261 -- Linear Algebra Computer Lab
- MATH 300 -- Mathematical Foundations
- MATH 346 -- Differential Equations
- MATH 430 -- Advanced Calculus I
- MATH 431 -- Advanced Calculus II
- MATH 434 -- Numerical Analysis I

- STAT 301 -- Probablility and Statistics I

Majors in the Applied Mathematics Concentration seeking a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree must choose three credit hours from the following:
- PHYS 222 -- Physics II
- Three credits in
- Any PHYS course numbered 300 or above
- Any astronomy course
- Any biology course
- Any chemistry course
- Any geology course
- GEOS 130 -- Physical Geography
Majors in the Applied Mathematics Concentration seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics degree must complete the B.A. language requirement.
Majors in the Applied Mathematics Concentration must have a 2.0 GPA in all required MATH, STAT, ITEC, and PHYS courses.
*--A grade of at least a C is required in MATH 171 (or 168 and 169), 172, and 271. Departmental majors receiving credit for MATH 271 cannot subsequently receive credit for any 100-level mathematics course unless the course is required for their concentration.
