B.B.A. in Economics

Economics is the study of how people manage their scarce resources. The BBA in Economics explores decision-making behavior for consumers and firms, and analyzes outcomes in commercial environments. This major places particular emphasis on value creation, strategic thinking, teamwork, global perspectives, business acumen (commercial application) and modern business problem-solving. Students explore topics in innovation, finance, consumer behavior, production and firm behavior, trade and economy. This program involves 9 ECON courses, 3 courses developing technical skills (MATH/STAT/ITEC) and 9 Business courses (ACTG/FINC/MGNT/MKTG).

This major satisfies the R (Scientific and Quantitative Reasoning), A (Cultural or Behavioral Analysis) and L (Applied Learning) areas in the REAL General Education Curriculum.

The Economics Highlander

Students pursuing a BBA in Economics will focus on concepts like value creation, strategic thinking, sustainability, global perspective, teamwork and commerical applications of economic decision-making. You will explore how markets, industries and national economies develop and the actions taken by firms, governments and other organizations as they respond to changing environments.

As an Economics-BBA student at Radford University, you will explore current events, learn how to draw real insights from data, create and evaluate arguments about the way things should be, analyze public policies and identify chains of cause-and-effect. You will learn how scarcity affects decisions made by consumers, businesses, governments, and many other organizations so you can help them make better choices. Your obsession will be finding new and innovative ways to increase efficiency, reduce waste, improve lives, and plan for the future. GPA Requirements

To graduate with this major, students need to complete 120 credit hours. Students need an in-major GPA of 2.25 and an overall GPA of 2.0. Students are encouraged to keep their GPA as high as possible, and discuss academic needs with their faculty advisors if their GPA drops below these thresholds.
