Saving Place: Artists Speak on the Environment RADFORD The public is invited to Radford University for a free panel discussion, “Saving Place: Artists Speak on the Environment,” on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m. in the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center auditorium. Panelists will be Suzanne Stryk, naturalist and painter, Jim Minick, writer, Elizabeth McCommon, singer/songwriter/actress, Meredith Dean, performance artist, and Frank Taylor, biologist. The group will discuss topics including their relationship with the environment, what, if any, influence living in Appalachia has on their work, what artists can contribute to efforts to preserve the environment, what goals they hope to achieve with their audiences and whether they view their art as a form of activism. The audience will also have an opportunity to ask questions. The presentation is sponsored by RU’s Office of New Student Programs’ RU Connections program.
