Book Edited by RU Professor Explores Neversink River

RADFORD – The Legendary Neversink: A Treasury of the Best Writing About One of America’s Great Trout Rivers is a collection of fishing essays edited by Radford University English professor Justin Askins. The book has been published by Skyhorse Press.

Justin AskinsThe book is a collection of stories by fly fishing writers John Burroughs, Theodore Gordon, Edward Ringwood Hewitt, George M. L. LaBranche, Ray Bergman, Ernest Schwiebert, Austin M. Francis, A. J. McClane, Len Wright and Jay Cassell.  Askins is pictured on the front cover fishing the Neversink.

Askins’ perspective as a naturalist was related in his autobiography In Search of the Wild. He has published more than 300 articles in newspapers and magazines, including Appalachia, Fly Fisherman, Sports Afield and Fly Fish America. He has contributed to the RU student online magazine Whim and currently is working on a collection of humorous essays.

The Legendary Neversink is available at the Roanoke Orvis store and several online sources including Amazon.com and can also be purchased by contacting Askins at jaskins@radford.edu.
