Hispanic Heritage Month Speaker to Address Illegal Immigration
RADFORD -- Radford University welcomes award-winning filmmaker and inspirational speaker Jesus Nebot to campus on October 4 as part of the university’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Nebot’s lecture, “Illegal Immigration: A Humanitarian Perspective,” addresses a topic at the forefront of American discussion, particularly as the campaign heats up for the 2008 presidential election. Nebot will speak at 11 a.m. in Muse Banquet Hall.
Among his many accolades Nebot has been the recipient of the Aguila Azteca Performing Arts Tribute Award, the Latinos in Hollywood Star Filmmaker Award, the Nosotros Outstanding Independent Filmmaker Golden Eagle Award and The Southern California Motion Picture Councils Golden Star Halo Award for his outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry. He became internationally known for his starring roles in the top-rated television series’ La Lobida Herida and Divina Obsesion, distributed by Warner Brothers International in 29 countries. Nebot’s recent credits include guest-starring roles in the Fox Emmy-winning series’ NYPD Blue and Arrested Development. Nebot’s lecture is open to RU faculty, staff and students. Tickets are free and can be picked up beginning September 24 at noon at the Bonnie Student Center Information Desk.
