Accounting Student Awarded Virginia CPA Society Scholarship

RADFORD -- Rafael Rodriguez-Santos, a senior accounting major from Logan, Ohio, was awarded a $500 scholarship at the recent “Student Night,” hosted by the Roanoke Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA.)

“Rafael had a very good background, internship portfolio, GPA and record of community involvement,” said Tracy Spradlin, president of the VSCPA Roanoke chapter. “And is the kind of CPA candidate the VSCPA wants to encourage.”

Rodriguez-Santos was one of 26 Radford University accounting students, along with Helen Roybark, associate professor of accounting, who attended this year’s event which included a social hour, dinner, speakers and the awards presentations for accounting students from Ferrum College, RU, Roanoke College and Virginia Tech.

“We are very proud of Rafael and appreciate the VSCPA’s interest in providing our students the opportunity to meet local CPAs, learn more about the industry and the VSCPA.” said Roybark.
